Chateau Gutsch in Luzern

Chateau Gutsch in Luzern is currently being renovated and is one of the oldest hotels in Luzern. It was actually built in 1888.

It has had famous guests such as Queen Victoria and Adolf Hitler. In fact, it was one of Hitler's favorite hotels in Europe. They have beautiful panoramic views of both the mountains and the lake. Due to bankruptcy, it was sold to a Russian firm who expects to restore it. Restoration includes expanding the rooms, putting in a spa, underground parking, and an elevator. A multi-billion dollar endeavor. They hope to open again in 2011. I hope Nick and I can try to be one of their first guests. Sounds like a romantic getaway for our 13th wedding anniversary!
